Top Socially-Distanced Activities to do in Maitland

With COVID-19 cases currently on the rise, it’s more and more difficult to balance staying safe with staying sane. While we navigate through a global pandemic, we crave social connection more than ever. As fun as a virtual happy hour may be, the best way to stave off cabin-fever is to take time off our devices and spend it in our beautiful city.

Here are some ideas for activities that are easily available to residents of The Q and the Maitland community at large. Social distancing never looked more festive!

Spend the Day by the pool at The Q

This one is for The Q residents - you know who you are! What better way to cool off from a long week than taking a dip in The Q’s refreshing pool? This outdoor amenity is just one of many that this apartment complex offers. Spend the afternoon basking in the sun on resort-style tanning beds or cook out in their outdoor-kitchen-meets-cabana-bar while keeping a safe distance from others.

Picnic at one of Maitland’s Many Parks: Lily Lake Park

Located within walking distance from The Q, Lake Lily Park is known to be a hidden gem of Maitland. Prepare a delicious picnic as you enjoy the scenic lake, a defining feature of this ten acre park. Visitors are welcome from 8 in the morning to dusk. With a walking trail, boardwalk and playground, there’s something for everyone here! On Sundays, check out the quaint Maitland Farmers Market.

    Travel to Nearby Winter Park

With travel limitations during this strange time, consider stretching your legs in a new, close place. Neighboring Winter Park is a vibrant city, especially on Saturday mornings, where they host an outdoor Farmer’s Market. You’re sure to find unique produce, plants and baked goods here. We suggest you come hungry. Fresh, succulent options like nutella waffles, fresh lemonade, organic fruit make for a delicious breakfast fit for locals.

Go for a walk or run at the Howell Branch Nature Reserve

A great way to cope with the new challenges and stressors we are facing is to get some fresh air and exercise! Science has shown that exercise reduces anxiety and health-related risks and even improves cognitive function! Grab a running (or walking) buddy to explore the boardwalk of the Howell Branch Nature Reserve, a wetland habitat located just three minutes from Maitland.

    Visit the Maitland Historical Museum

We can’t forget, it is still winter and even the sunshine state is prone to chilly temperatures! A trip to the Art & History Museums - Maitland is ideal for getting out of the house on a cold day. Explore this central museum that celebrates art and history within the Maitland community. Offering a combination of renowned and new exhibitions, the Art & History Museums - Maitland takes care of their visitors' safety. Masks are required, hand sanitizer stations are provided and cleaning protocols are ensured throughout the museum. Broaden your cultural horizons while curbing the spread!

All this and more is nearby The Q in Maitland. Welcome Home.
